I will take BART from Walnut Creek to CalTrain in Milbrae and then jump on the lightrail in San Jose Diridon Station to Campbell periodically just get my Downtown Blend espresso. (I could drive but I love the trains) It's so rich and full bodied. Reminds me of the espresso I was drinking while living in Europe. Granted I don't make a regular habit out of a commute just for coffee, but a "spare the air day" will get me jumping trains for free to get my coffee fix. Atmosphere wise, it's big inside, but I often feel like it's a bunch of people looking for others to talk to them but instead hide within the safety of their laptops. Park in the gravel lot behind the building if you're driving. Pick up a pound of the Downtown Blend before you leave if you have an espresso machine at home! I should note that I'm all about short-pull straight up espresso with just a dash of raw sugar to bring out the caramel flavors in the espresso. Nothing else in the drink so I'm basing this review on the espresso itself.

This place isn't as noisy as other cafes, so it's ideal for studying. There's wireless but not a huge number of outlets (well there are but they're all smooshed together in one spot). The pair of leather loveseats are absolutely comfy and there's ample seating otherwise.

Okay, find parking. Cool, there's the Farmer's Market. Okay, passing *bucks, keep going, keep going,... Need some caffeine,... Aah, there's Orchard Valley! So I head in and most of their tables are already full. Laptops everywhere, people seem wide awake - well, more awake than myself. I'm talking about early birds here, then I find out, it's almost 11am. Oh. Anyway, their setup is refreshing, almost between a cafeteria and library, but you're allowed to drink openly. Remember those days of secretly eating and drinking in the library?
Coffee is good, maybe a little light on the caffeine, but I guess it depends what you have. I don't know about you, but this will be a stop for me when I'm in the area.

Whoever says OVC doesn't have good coffee is on crack. Both their espresso and drip coffee are rich and flavorful. Maybe people who are used to drinking Starbucks (which tends to be lighter) are not used to a rich coffee. I have heard Starbuck's drinkers not liking Peet's for the same reason. That's all a matter of personal taste.
More than good coffee, they also serve freshly baked pastries (right there behind the counter in that mega oven, not delivered in a truck like just about all other coffee shops). Some hot foods like breakfast bagels are good. Others like breakfast burritos are not. All in all, a very fine local establishment where quality surpasses that of national chains.-TL This coffee shop defines downtown campbell, and is a great place to people watch during the sunday farmer's market. They consistently blend delicious fruit smoothies as well as the richest blended mocha I've ever had. Everytime I go back to Campbell to visit my family I pay a visit to Orchard Valley Coffee before hopping on the freeway.

Good coffee, great pastries, free wifi, beloved local business.
I have a great personal affection for the OVC, holding down the fort for years as the only reliable, independent coffee shop in Campbell.
I've never personally been incredibly excited about their roasting choices, but they certainly have quality beans, and it's all roasted on-site. They also just started baking all their own pastries, and they are completely and overwhelmingly amazing. Muffins. Apple cobbler. Danishes. Do it. They've always made breakfast, which is a nice little bonus.
I live off their free WiFi, which is a godsend. And they have a pretty stellar bring-your-own-mug discount (something like 50 cents), so do the environment, the community, and yourself a favor and walk on over.

Hey OVC, You are currently my favorite cafe - and I've been to many! Good space, people, ambiance, food, drinks, and a good place to chill, study and have group meetings. Thanks for all providing such an excellent venue!I especially appreciate your veggie sandwiches. They are a magnitude above any other. I also am happy the wide selection of drinks you offer. I can vary widely in what I want to drink at any given time: a latte, coffee, blended drink, tea, chai...
I also appreciate the fact that you are not super-hard core about the closing time. That is, you close when you are supposed to, not earlier. Politely asking people to leave if they are still there after closing time is fine, but asking people to leave before that is heinous. This is what happens at the other store that I think the owners work with - Book's Inc. in Mtn. View. They say they are open to a certain time, but they are mopping under your feet ten minutes before closing. I understand that the two main barristas there want to get back to their kids, but what a really negative experience to be asked to stop what I am doing and get out before closing time. That really turns me off, and keeps me from hanging there much anymore; as I am a late night type of guy (they've got a lot of local competition there in Mtn. View, so you'd think they would a little more considerate about that, or more respectful like OVC).
Anything to improve at OVC? Can't really think of anything. Keep it up. I hope to catch your breakfast more....
